Hanako is a female Asian elephant born in Thailand for 1947 years. She is the elephant which visited Japan after the war first. . In the second generation donated in 1949 by Ueno Zoo, she is most old in an elephant bred in Japan. . . There is the sad history starved during war to late Hanako and is famous for a picture book "poor elephant". . ------------. はな子はメスのアジアゾウで、1947年タイ生まれ。戦後はじめて来日したゾウです。. 1949年に上野動物園から寄贈された二代目で、現在日本で飼育されているゾウの中では最高齢だそうです。. . 戦争中に餓死させられたゾウ「花子」の名前を継いでいます。. 絵本「かわいそうなぞう」で有名ですね。
